Moore County Opens Temporary Cooling Station for Residents During Extreme Heat Carthage, NC (July 2, 2026) โ€” In response to forecasted extreme temperatures, Moore County will open a temporary Cooling Station to provide residents with a safe place to cool

The Cooling Station will be located at the Moore County Sports Complex, 155 Hillcrest Park Lane, Carthage, NC, and will be open Thursday, July 2, through Monday, July 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day.

No Caption This afternoon West End Fire and Rescue responded with Squad 61, Boat 61, Heavy Rescue 619 and 610 to assist Seven Lakes Fire / Rescue with a water craft emergency / sunken boat

West End Fire and Rescue, June 20

Boat 61 was launched and crews from both departments worked together using specialty equipment / salvage airbags to raise the boat from the lake bottom and get the it raised above the water line. A specially water pump was used to de-water the boat and get floating again. Boat 61 then towed the boat to the boat ramp where it was removed from the water.

๐Ÿš’ Mutual Aid in Hoke County โ€“ Quint 61โ€™s First Working Incident Earlier today, West End Fire & Rescueโ€™s Quint 61 responded at the special request of the Pinehill Fire Department in Hoke County to assist with a residential structure fire on Loop Road

Upon arrival, crews encountered a challenging situation where the fire had compromised the floor system of the home, and burning debris remained active in the basement. Due to the unsafe conditions inside the structure, Quint 61 was utilized to establish an elevated master stream, allowing firefighters to apply large volumes of water directly into the basement area while minimizing the risk of personnel ...
