This week, we’re focusing on fire safety, and one of the simplest yet most effective tools in your home is a smoke alarm. Here are a few tips to ensure they’re working for you:
1. Test Monthly: Press the test button to make sure your alarms are functioning properly.
2. Replace Batteries: Change the batteries at least once a year—or sooner if your alarm starts chirping.
3. Upgrade Alarms: If your smoke alarms are more than 10 years old, consider replacing them with newer models.
4. Install Properly: Place alarms in every sleeping area and on each level of your home.
5. Create an Escape Plan: Make sure everyone in your home knows what to do when the alarm sounds.
Your smoke alarm is your first line of defense against fire. Don’t take chances—ensure yours are in top condition!
