Heat Stroke: Know the Difference! βοΈ
As temps climb into the hundreds this week, itβs important to recognize the warning signs of heat-related illness. Hereβs how to tell the difference:
πΈ Heat Exhaustion β
Heavy sweating β
Pale or clammy skin β
Dizziness or fainting β
Nausea or vomiting β
Muscle cramps β
Headache β
Fast, weak pulse
β‘οΈ What to do: Move to a cooler place, loosen clothing, sip water, and apply cool, wet cloths.
π¨ Heat Stroke (EMERGENCY!) β No sweating β Red, hot, dry or damp skin β Confusion or unconsciousness β Strong, rapid pulse β Body temp of 103Β°F or higher
β‘οΈ What to do: Call 911 immediately! While waiting, move the person to a cooler place and try to lower their body temp with cool cloths or a bath. Do NOT give them anything to drink.
